The short version

Stuck? Write to pour@nexxpour.com and we will sort it out.

Most questions are answered below — signing in, your palate, what stays private, deleting your account, and running a venue. If yours is not, the address above reaches the Nexxpour team directly.

Write from the address on your account, and say whether you use the iPhone app or the website. A screenshot helps.

01 Signing in

I forgot my password.

In the iPhone app: on the sign-in screen, tap Forgot your password? and enter your email. We send you a code. Type the whole code into the app, choose a new password, and you are signed straight back in.

On the website: go to nexxpour.com/forgot-password. We email you a link; open it and set a new password.

The app says my code has expired or is invalid.

Only the most recent code works — requesting another cancels the one before it. Use the code from the newest email, and copy all of it. If you asked more than once in a minute, wait a moment before asking again; we limit how quickly codes can be sent.

I never received the email.

Check your spam and promotions folders, and make sure you are using the address you signed up with. For your privacy we never confirm whether an address has an account, so an address we do not recognise simply receives nothing.

It says my account is suspended.

Email pour@nexxpour.com from the address on the account and we will look into it.

Who can use Nexxpour?

You must be 21 or over. We ask for your date of birth before you sign up.

02 Your palate & matches

What does the match number on a wine mean?

It is how closely that wine lines up with your palate on nine things: body, freshness, tannin, sweetness, oak, fruit, herbal notes, aroma and how adventurous it is. The higher the number, the closer the fit. On a wine's page, the gold ring is you and the garnet disc is the wine; the line between them is the gap.

My matches don't feel right.

Your palate is only as good as the answers behind it. In the app, open You → Sharpen your palate for five extra questions the first quiz skips, or You → Retake the palate quiz to start fresh. On the website, update it from Account.

How do I edit my name, photo or password?

In the app, open You → Edit your profile. On the website, go to Account. Your cru name — your @handle — is permanent once chosen.

03 Pours, notes & privacy

Can anyone see my tasting notes?

No. Your private tasting notes are only ever shown to you, including when you share a pour.

What does "Put this on the feed" share?

When you log a pour you can choose to share it. Other drinkers then see the wine, the venue, your rating and your cru name — and a short public note, if you choose to write one. It is off unless you turn it on for that pour.

What can a venue see about me?

Nothing that identifies you. A venue sees totals for its own room — how many people poured its wines, how many are going to or checked in to its events — and average ratings once at least three different people have rated. It never sees your name, your private notes, or how you rated the venue itself.

How do I save a wine or a venue?

Tap Save on a wine's page or a venue's page. Your saves live under You → Saved. If a venue takes a saved wine off its list for a while, it stays in your saves marked as off the list, and we can tell you when it's back.

How do I check in to an event, and rate it?

On the day an event is on, its card shows I'm here from an hour before it starts. Once you've checked in — or after an event you RSVP'd to — it appears under Rate what you went to on the What's on tab, where you rate the event and then the venue.

04 Scanning a bottle

How does Scan a bottle work?

On Discover, tap Scan a bottle and photograph one wine label — at home, in a shop, anywhere. The app tells you what the wine is (name, producer, vintage, region and grapes) and how it tastes, on the same nine scores every wine on Nexxpour has. Your scans are under You → Your scans, and opening an old one does not use a scan.

Why only five scans a day?

Every photo is read by an AI label reader, and each read costs us. You get five a day, and they reset at midnight New York time. A photo with no wine label in it still uses one. If the reader is busy or fails on our side, the scan is not counted, and the app says so.

It read my label wrong.

Scan it again with one label filling the frame, facing the camera, in good light. When the reader is unsure, the result says so.

Who can see my scans?

Only you. Venues never see them. The photo itself is read and not kept. Removing a scan from Your scans deletes what was read, and deleting your account deletes them all.

05 Location, camera & photos

Why does the app want my location?

Only to show which wine bars are nearest you. The app does not ask until you choose a distance or tap the locate button on the map, uses it only while the app is open, and never records where you go. Without it, everything still works — you just won't see distances.

Why does the app want my camera or photos?

The camera reads wine labels: to find a bottle on the list of the venue you're in, and, with Scan a bottle, to tell you what any wine is and how it tastes. Your photo library is used only when you choose a picture you already have — for your profile, for instance.

What notifications will I get?

Only the kinds you leave on under You → Notifications: a reminder an hour before an event you're going to, and a note when a wine you saved is back on a list. News from venues you saved is off unless you switch it on, and never arrives between 9pm and 9am.

How do I change these permissions?

On your iPhone, open Settings → Nexxpour and switch Location, Camera or Photos on or off.

06 Prices & wine details

Where do the prices come from?

From the venue, and only the venue. We never estimate or guess a price. If one looks wrong, ask the venue — or tell us and we will pass it on.

Where do awards on a wine come from?

They are the medals and scores printed on the bottle, as entered by the venue. We do not add awards from anywhere else.

A wine's details are wrong.

Email us with the wine and the venue and we will get it corrected.

07 Deleting your account

How do I delete my account?

In the iPhone app: open You → Delete my account and confirm twice. Venue owners find the same option in their venue profile.

On the website: there is no delete button yet. Email pour@nexxpour.com from the address on your account and we will delete it for you.

What gets deleted?

Your login and profile, your palate, every pour you have logged, your label scans, your badges, your saved wines and venues, your event responses, who you follow, and your profile photo. It is permanent and cannot be undone.

I run a venue. Does deleting my account remove the venue?

No. The venue's listing — its wine list, photos and history — stays on Nexxpour without an owner, so it can be handed to someone else. If you want the listing taken down too, email pour@nexxpour.com.

08 For venues

How do I list my venue?

Sign up at nexxpour.com/register-venue, or in the app choose I run a venue when you create an account. We review new venues before they go live.

My venue is already on Nexxpour. How do I take it over?

  1. Create a venue account at nexxpour.com/claim-venue.
  2. Email pour@nexxpour.com from that address with the venue's name.
  3. Once we have confirmed it is yours, we transfer the listing to your account and you can manage it from there.

Where do I manage my venue?

In the iPhone app, a venue account opens to its own tabs — Home, Promote, Bottles and Insights. On the web, use your venue dashboard — it is also where you upload a wine list as a CSV file.

Can I add wines by photographing them?

Yes. In Bottles, photograph a bottle and the app reads the label and profiles the wine for you to check. You add the prices — we never read or guess them from a photo. One bottle per photo gives the best results.

Why can't I choose my price range?

It is worked out from the prices on your wine list, so it always matches what drinkers will actually pay. Add prices to your wines and it updates automatically.
